Something that has happened before in the Offsite Industry after a downturn, which could be on the horizon for us, is the rise in mergers and acquisitions as well as factories simply closing their doors or going bankrupt.

A Vantem Home
Fortunately, some acquisitions are simply that one of the owners wants to retire and the other agrees to take over. That’s what happened here.
Vantem, a company that specializes in next-generation modular technology, recently announced that it has acquired Affinity Building Systems, a modular home manufacturer based in Lakeland, Georgia that serves the Southeast. The acquisition is a key part of Vantem’s nationwide growth strategy, which aims to establish 20 plants across the United States through the acquisition of highly qualified modular factories and the creation of new facilities.
Affinity is a respected and successful builder of high-quality, customizable modular homes, and it joins Vantem as a valuable addition to the company’s portfolio. Vantem’s technology will enable Affinity to expand its range of offerings with higher energy efficiency and greater resistance to hurricanes and climate-related impacts. Vantem’s homes have proven to be highly resilient, having withstood Category 5 hurricanes, and are resistant to mold, termites, and fire.

Vantem’s technology also results in homes that are up to 70% more energy-efficient than those constructed using traditional methods, without incurring additional costs. Affinity will soon offer Net-Zero options that do not require electricity from the grid.
Chris Anderson, the CEO of Vantem, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, noting that Affinity is a well-respected and successful company with a talented team that produces top-quality homes. He is looking forward to building on Affinity’s achievements by integrating Vantem’s technology to provide higher energy efficiency and climate resilience at competitive costs. He is particularly excited about the prospect of adding Net-Zero home options to the Affinity portfolio.
Tony Watson, Affinity’s CEO, is retiring, and Wayne Morrison, Vantem’s CFO, will replace him as CEO. All other members of the Affinity team will remain with the company and participate in its growth.
By bringing Vantem’s technology into the Affinity portfolio, the company will be able to maintain its high level of service while providing even more options for modular homes, according to Morrison. Charles Crews, Affinity’s COO, stated that the acquisition presents an exciting opportunity to introduce new construction technology to the market and lead the next wave of modular innovation in the Southeast and beyond.
