British construction company Boutique Modern is embarking on an exciting expansion, with plans to build a new factory in Newhaven, East Sussex. This significant step not only promises to double their production capacity but also create over 35 new jobs, bolstering the local economy and contributing to a positive social impact.

Boutique Modern specializes in creating high-quality, sustainable homes for affordable and social housing projects in the Southeast of England. Their mission is to provide vulnerable individuals and families with beautiful, well-designed living spaces they can truly call home.

Dick Shone, Founder and Managing Director

“This marks a thrilling new chapter for Boutique Modern,” says Dick Shone, Managing Director. “Building this new factory translates to more homes and opportunities for local communities, paving the way for future expansion with satellite factories in other high-demand housing areas.”

The expansion plans are ambitious. Each new factory is expected to generate over £20 million annually for the local economy while creating upwards of 100 jobs per facility.

Sustainability remains at the core of Boutique Modern’s values. The new factory, designed by award-winning architects Morgan Carn, will be a two-story industrial building dedicated to constructing modular housing units using sustainable methods.

With their current production site reaching capacity, Boutique Modern’s workforce of 70 will see a significant boost, growing to over 100 employees with the move to the new factory.

The new location sits on an empty, formerly disused site in Avis Way. Previously occupied by a large workshop and office building, the space was demolished in 2021 and currently serves as temporary storage for the company’s off-site housing modules.

The anticipated opening at the end of this year promises exciting developments. The new factory will boast two separate manufacturing lines, offering greater flexibility in production and improved control over delivery speeds for clients. Operating at full capacity, the facility can produce up to 125 houses or 250 flats annually, while maintaining the adaptability to navigate market fluctuations.

Boutique Modern’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and social impact is evident in their expansion plans. With the new factory in Newhaven, they aim to not only increase their production capacity but also contribute meaningfully to the local economy and provide much-needed affordable housing solutions, all while remaining true to their core values.
