On the fourth day of my New England road trip, I immersed myself in the innovative construction technology world at Logic Building Systems in Brattleboro, VT. The day was marked by an insightful discussion with founder Jason Van Nest, who also serves as an Associate Professor at the New York Institute of Technology and is a respected speaker in the industry.

Jason and I delved into the transformative concept of universal connectivity in the construction sector, particularly focusing on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Drawing an analogy with the ubiquitous USB port that simplifies connectivity for various devices, Jason introduced me to his pioneering design: the Logic Connector.

This ingenious system proposes a standardized method to seamlessly integrate bathroom, kitchen, and utility closet pods into new constructions, mirroring the ease of USB connectivity.
The potential of the Logic Connector to revolutionize the construction industry is immense, particularly in facilitating off-site construction and modular building. Jason promised to keep me updated as his team progresses with this innovative design. I look forward to sharing more detailed insights on the Logic Connector’s capabilities and its impact on the industry.
The day concluded with a nostalgic visit to an old friend, Andy Gianino, a pioneer in modular housing. Although Andy has retired and sold his business, The Home Store, in Massachusetts, his legacy endures through his influential book, “The Modular Home.” This publication has guided many homebuyers and has been instrumental in the success of numerous modular home contractors.
Andy is still curious about what is happening in it and learning what all the people he knew are doing today and is pleased with all the innovations and people entering the industry.

Reflecting on the conversations and insights gained today, I am inspired to continue exploring and learning about the latest advancements in the construction field. As this trip comes to an end, plans are already underway for my next journey, which will involve visiting more factories, builders, manufactured home dealers, and other key industry players. Stay tuned for more updates as I uncover what’s new and exciting in our ever-evolving industry.
