Finding new sustainable products for the construction is imperative today and seeing hemp moving in to fill that need is exciting. Hemp insulation is one of those products that has been making slight inroads into the offsite construction industry but that could soon change.

Hempitechture is getting ready to begin producing Hemp Wool insulation after the first of the year in their new factory in a new, 20,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Jerome, Idaho.

Hempitecture, founded in 2013 by Ketchum residents Mattie Mead and Tommy Gibbons, started out with a focus on a durable composite of hemp fiber and limestone called “hempcrete,” which Gibbons and Mead used to build the country’s first public building using the material—Idaho Base Camp in Mackay. In 2019, the company switched its focus to Hemp Wool.
