Futuro House, with its signature flying saucer shape and
airplane hatch entrance, was designed in 1968 by Finnish architect Matti
Suuronen as a ski cabin that would be “quick to heat and easy to construct in
rough terrain.” It was able to comfortably house eight people inside its fully
furnished interior.
Composed of fiberglass-reinforced polyester plastic, the
Futuro was eventually discontinued due to the Oil Crisis, where tripled
gasoline prices made manufacture of plastic extremely expensive.

It reminds me of a certain folding house that is trying to make inroads in the prefab housing arena today by telling people that it is the future of homebuilding in the US.
A total of 96 Futuro houses were made in the late 1960s and
early 1970s.
