Remember phone booths? You do if you’re over 50. You thought they went away forever except for the Doctor Who and Superman phone booths of course.
A Finnish company, Framery, decided the phone booth simply needed a redesign and what they are building are uncomplicated, simplistic designed pods ready to give you privacy when making cell calls, holding small group meetings and having video conferences.
They are beginning to pop up in offices ranging from Microsoft to small private companies. These acoustic pods address the need for on-demand privacy that allows people to seamlessly connect, regardless of physical location.
Because of the pandemic, video conferencing has risen 5 fold. Framery pods are built around people’s need for privacy and soundproofing. Now instead of having to sit at your desk in the middle of a busy office, you can simply use a pod for secure video meetings or attending a conference.
I’m sure there are a lot of ‘work from home’ people that would love a pod in their home, especially at night when family and friends might want to use the same dining room table you use while working.
If you are claustrophobic, you may want to find an alternative private place to talk while on a Zoom.
