NIMBY or “Not in My Backyard” usually applies to neighborhoods that don’t want tiny houses, homeless villages or other types of housing that would lower property values.

That’s not the case with Hillborough, CA where NIMBY means they don’t want any affordable housing that’s included in California’s requirement that every city, town, and county include mandatory affordable housing built in their jurisdiction.
The 11,000+folks in this wealthy town want the option to put ADUs in their backyard instead. No highrise affordable housing complexes for their neighborhood.
It’s time to just sit back and watch how this plays out when a wealthy neighborhood cries “NIMBY”.
