GML Construction was set up in 1991 by Alan Proto who was
last year named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in the Kent Excellence in Business
Awards.
The company was also named as ‘SME of the Year’ at the
London & Southeast final of the Constructing Excellence Awards 2011.
GML, based in
company’s workload had come from local authorities and, in particular, schools.
Mr Proto’s LinkedIn page puts GML’s turnover at $11M,
‘expected to grow to $23.5M+ next three years’.

All staff were laid off at the start of the year and
administrators from Moore Stephens LLP were appointed on January 16, 2013.
GML had expanded into the renewable energy sector, targeting
Solar PV for both the commercial and domestic markets.
“For the first time in my life, I’m
completely wiped out. It’s quite numbing. I recognise that my responsibility is
to work in the best interests of all those people who had a stake, and I will
do everything I can to minimise the damage caused to them,” Proto said.
