In the face of disaster, every second counts. The quicker the response, the more lives can be touched, saved, and rebuilt. Understanding this need, Boxabl, a pioneering company in the realm of swift, sustainable, and modular housing, has embarked on an ambitious mission to bring 200 of their homes to Maui for disaster relief.
The unique collaboration between Boxabl, local Maui officials, and the Red Cross is a testament to the power of community. However, the road hasn’t been without its bumps.
A Vision for Sustainable Change
Boxabl co-founder Paolo Tiramani announced on Twitter about the company’s ongoing efforts: “We’re teaming up with @CountyofMaui, liaising with @fema contractors, and working alongside @RedCross to devise a plan. Our vision? To offer @BOXABL’s quick, sustainable, and locally sensitive housing solutions, easily deployable and later transformable into lasting communities.”
Paolo emphasized the company’s commitment to offering lasting solutions. The aim isn’t just to provide shelter, but to ensure that the measures don’t pave the way for “future slums.”

A Bump in the Road: The FEMA Challenge
Despite the fervor and momentum, there have been hurdles. The collaboration with FEMA has been a sticking point. Galiano Tiramani, also a co-founder of Boxabl, candidly expressed his sentiments on Twitter, saying, “We’ve made numerous attempts to connect with FEMA without success. We can’t afford to wait. We’re taking matters into our own hands.”
Crowdfunding to the Rescue
To bypass these challenges and make an immediate impact, Boxabl initiated a GoFundMe campaign. The primary goal? To generate the necessary funds to transport 200 ready-to-assemble Boxabl homes straight to Maui. Galiano Tiramani passionately reached out, urging, “Help us deliver Boxabl homes to Hawaii. We have 200 homes prepped and waiting. Support our GoFundMe initiative and spread the word for greater reach!” Impressively, the campaign has already garnered over $57,000.

For those stirred by Boxabl’s mission and looking to contribute, there’s a call to action. Monetary support for their GoFundMe campaign is a direct way to help.
