PIQUA, OH — It was a project a year and a half in the making, a
culmination of work by junior and senior students, and in less than an hour it
was on the road to its new home on Staunton Street Monday morning.
That project was the 1,992 square foot modular home built by
it was a culmination of classes who took part in this unique project, from carpentry to
building and grounds maintenance, electrical trades and HVAC/R. All under the
direction of Rick Lenhart, carpentry instructor serving as project manager, who
was there from not only the first nail strike but throughout the transportation
and setting.
“Coordinating was the hard part,” said Lenhart on what had
initially been scheduled for a move on Friday, June 20, but the weather forcing
them to wait until Monday, June 23. When Unibilt Industries Inc., of Vandalia, OH met the instructor bright and early on what proved to be a perfect day.
Perfect, that is, for moving an estimated 24,000 pounds (each) of modular home
