One of the latest rooms for a new home is the “Man Cave”, a room or other area in a home that is primarily a male
sanctuary, designed and furnished to accommodate the man’s recreational
activities, hobbies, etc.: The basement is usually the first man cave area – during
football season, you can usually find him down there watching the game with his
buddies on the big-screen TV.
Times are changing and today you will find a lot of women using the “Man Cave” almost as much as he does. Women enjoy sports, action movies and poker games as much as men and today the cave is moving into the main part of the house. Some home owners call the “family” room the cave, decorating in masculine items but it’s really for the whole family.
If you are a modular home builder, make sure you ask a lot of questions about what the owner wants in the family room area. Ask about outlets, seating arrangements, blank walls and entry areas leading into it. Most of these things will not even have crossed the homeowners minds until you bring them up and won’t that make you look like a hero.
Here are just some of the latest “Man Caves”:
| This Man Cave would fit nicely into a standard module |
| Futuristic but still fits in a factory built module |
| A more conventional “Man Cave” for him and her |
| Don’t forget one of the original caves, the garage |
| Not having enough outlets for this module would result in an angry homeowner |
| The ultimate NRA member’s Man Cave |
