If you are having a new home built, make sure the house is locked up from day one.
That’s hard for a site built home as it might be months before all the exterior surfaces are up and secured. A modular home is secured when it arrives with all windows and doors installed and the locksets attached to the doors.
Police say that if something is missing from a construction site with no locks it technically can’t be called B&E as the house was open and inviting. Theft is usually the only charge.
