Who would have thought finding skilled labor would become such a big problem?
“Oh, they’re out there! they just don’t want to work for you.”

Instead, over 5 million have opted to become entrepreneurs. In fact, in mid-2020, business applications began inching upward from just under 240,000 a month when stimulus checks, extra unemployment benefits, and PPP loans began arriving to more than 550,000 new businesses a month later. It’s also when millions of jobs just vanished.
In June of 2020, over 4 million people had quit their jobs, with many taking all the money available and starting a business. They simply didn’t want to work for someone else. They came up with a business plan, found the resources, and started their own new business. And we’re not talking about the people that simply used their Social Security number to start a business and there were a lot of those also, but a new business for which they filed an EIN application with the IRS.
For 2021, 5.39 million EIN applications were filed with the IRS!
Many new businesses were started by offsite and modular industry veterans providing new products and procedures to help make our industry better. No one saw that coming. Many of those missing skilled laborers are actually selling their services to you today.
Between 2020 and 2021, nearly 10 million businesses were started. This helps explain a portion of the record-high “quits” in 2021.
An Invitation from the Modcoach
For all those “New” businesses that have started up to serve the offsite and modular housing industries, I am personally inviting you to get your company noticed by taking out an ad in my blog. From the eye-opening skyscraper, the banner ad, the newsletter banner ad to vendor ads that show up in every single article, getting noticed will not be a problem.
Remember, keeping your company’s name in front of the “decision-makers” in our industry is a year-round job and I can help that happen.
Check out my homepage to see the skyscraper, banner, modular factory and home builder ads but be sure to go to an article and see 3 different vendor ads show up. They rotate between all sold vendor ads and each gets about 500 exposures a day! They would be a great way to promote your new business!
