The facility will occupy two existing buildings totaling 246,000 square feet in Leesville’s Northside Industrial Park. One of the buildings is reported to be the former Pioneer Housing Systems factory.

The average annual salary at the facility, which will produce manufactured homes, will be $35,000.

“Manufacturing accounts for a substantial portion of Louisiana’s economic output, and we are happy to add Champion Home Builders to that roster,” Gov. John Bel Edwards said. “Leesville and Vernon Parish will provide a good home for this national company, and the jobs created by this project will be filled by a talented workforce in Central Louisiana. Champion is a leader in its field. We congratulate the company on its continued growth, and welcome Champion to Louisiana.”

Champion, founded in 1953, has more than 4,600 employees and operates 28 facilities in North America. The company has produced more than 1,700,000 factory-built manufactured homes, modular homes and mobile homes.

Louisiana Economic Development is providing Champion with an incentive package that includes an Economic Development Award Program grant of $500,000.
