“One if by Land, Two if by Sea” was the catchphrase for Dickinson Homes recently when they had to deliver a custom modular home to Mackinac Island in Michigan where only bikes, golf carts and horses are allowed.

Following Paul’s sage advice they trucked 6 modules 219 miles on land and 17 miles on water. The crane was loaded on a barge along with the modules to set the home on Mackinac Island without any machinery or vehicles ever setting foot on land.

Because there is a very tight window to build on the island plus there being no real road system made getting to the site nearly impossible. Dickinson Homes devised and planned for the water based set in their offices and everything went very, very well (after months of planning).

Setting from the water was the simplest method due to how close the site is to the shore.

The home is 2,488 sq ft with 3 beds, 3 baths and an office.

Proving once again when it comes to getting a modular home somewhere difficult modular home factories will find a way to do it. Just ask Paul.
