Major companies in the construction industry are not sitting around waiting to see what the future will bring before they react. Some, like Johnson Controls, a global leader in building technology and solutions, is building a new state-of-the-art engineering center and laboratory in Glendale, Wisconsin.

The new engineering center will be located across from Johnson Controls’ current headquarters campus in Glendale. The 105,000-square-foot building will be designed to be a modern and flexible space that will allow for cross-team collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The facility will also be equipped with the latest technology and equipment to support the development of new building technologies.
Johnson Controls’ new engineering center is part of the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The facility will be designed to be LEED Platinum certified, which is the highest level of sustainability certification available. The building will also incorporate a number of sustainable features, including solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and rainwater harvesting.
“This new engineering center is a significant investment in our future and in the future of the building industry,” said George Oliver, chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls. “As the world’s population grows and the demand for energy increases, we need to find new ways to build smarter, healthier, and more sustainable buildings. This new facility will help us do just that.”
The construction of Johnson Controls’ new engineering center is expected to begin in early 2023 and be completed in late 2024. The facility will create hundreds of new jobs during construction and will support hundreds of additional jobs once it is operational.

“We are excited to bring this new engineering center to Glendale,” said Oliver. “This facility will help us continue to grow and innovate, and it will create a positive impact on the local economy.”
In addition to the new engineering center, Johnson Controls is also investing in a number of other sustainability initiatives. The company is working to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, improve its water efficiency, and increase its use of renewable energy. Johnson Controls is also committed to developing new building technologies that can help customers reduce their energy consumption and improve their indoor air quality.
“We are committed to building a better future for our customers, our employees, and our planet,” said Oliver. “This new engineering center is a key part of our strategy to achieve our sustainability goals.”
