Ikea has revealed plans to build prefabricated homes across swathes of south and southwest England. But while this could help address the shortage of affordable housing, getting a mortgage for one may prove a problem.
That is because most mainstream lenders are reluctant to offer loans for buildings made from so-called non-standard materials — in other words, not bricks.
